Why are the senators acting surprised about oil prices?

Just a few years ago they had nothing against big oil companies merging (remember Exxon, Mobil, BP, Texaco, Shell, Amoco and all the others were all separate companies)... Now nobody is talking about breaking up these monopolies. Why? As soon as AT%26amp;T raised its head they are thinking of regulating. When oil makes a killing because of a few big companies that have monopoly on producing and refining, eveyone is fine... Was not Iraq suppose to bring cheap oil? Humvees and tanks are not very fuel efficient (planes too). I guess whatever oil we steal from the concured arabs is being used locally. Why are the senators acting surprised about oil prices?
Who are better actors than Senators and other of our elected folks? Why are the senators acting surprised about oil prices?
Many senators act surprised when the sun comes up.
So they can point the blame to someone else at election time.
