If oil companies don't beat expectations at earnings, do their share prices then only rise with the price/brl?

The price per barrel of oil or fall with such, unless they lower their guidance? If oil companies don't beat expectations at earnings, do their share prices then only rise with the price/brl?
There are too many variables to answer this question. They could miss, and raise estimates for the next quarter and the stock rise... they could miss and warn... they could exceed and warn... they could exceed and raise then another company in the sector warn... Analyze the stock, accumulate it with less downward risk on high accumulating volume and seven times out of ten you will be ok. The other three times cut your loses early.
