With the price of oil predicted to double within 2 years, will the profiteers be brought to justice?

No.

But bio-fuels, especially energy dependent corn is not the answer.

The world needs food.

At the US present state of oil consumption the land needed to produce equivalent energy from bio-fuels would be 100 times more than what is under production now for everything.

At a growth rate averaging 3% over the next 23 years in the 23rd year we would need to consume the equivalent of all energy used by humans since we first stood upon two feet. With the price of oil predicted to double within 2 years, will the profiteers be brought to justice?
Which profiteers are you refering too? A large component in the 'price' of oil is the weakness of the dollar. Dollar gets stronger, relative price of oil drops. It's economics. Then, too, it's a supply and demand issue. Want cheaper gas, increase supply, but America won't do that.

Welcome to the free market. It's not always fun, but it works.

By the way, if you're annoyed with the 'oil companies', just remember; they make 8 cents off of every gallon, congress makes 20 cents or 2 and a half times as much as the oil companies for doing nothing. And yet, amazingly, no one seems upset by that fact. With the price of oil predicted to double within 2 years, will the profiteers be brought to justice?
There are several ways to stop profiteering, boycott is number one, but people are too hung up on their cushy lifestyles to change… In the early 40’s, when our national security was at stake, it took the government 3 years to solve the problem: Los Alamos, Hanford, Oakridge, and the first nuclear reactors came about, and it was NOT funded by private enterprise. There is now a “clean” nuclear reactor available, using Helium as a heat transfer medium, but none have been built in the U.S. because of the fanatic environmentalists that control Congress. Anti U.S. Interests are using our head in the sand attitude (as in pre-Pearl Harbor) regarding energy to ruin our economy, and they are succeeding. Remember the fall of the USSR???
The price of oil has actually already doubled in the last few years. For some reason, this has yet to catch up with the US economy... until now.

For a country that imports so much fuel, it sure is cheap... considering people in competitive countries are paying double what the US is.
For profit businesses aren't concerned about people who will always purchase a commodity because of it's need. Maybe it's not ethical (subject to each person's belief), but it is most definitely not illegal. Aside from that, I don't believe that OPEC is under US law.
Probably not... ';Government regulation'; is a dirty concept with some people (their hate-radio overlords tell scream ';socialism'; at the very mention of the idea). So no politician will dare to interfere with Exxon / Mobile's record profits (at your expense).
OPEC? They are not subject to US antitrust laws.

Domestic oil company profit margins are about where they always were, so they are not ';profiteering.';
no they wont. Price gouging is a serious crime but, the Fed allows the oil industry to do whatever it wants to do.

let's go green, develop bio fuels and get off the oil standard
why not put all of your money in stock in the oil companies if its all that easy. these are publicly traded companies. it's not like anyone's excluded from sharing in the ';easy money';.
we should increase the price of water and food to opec countries as much as they raise gas prices. they have little water and you need lots of water to produce produce
Of course not! If you're rich enough, you can get away with murder!
Stop posting and pick up an economics book. These posts are very idiotic.
You're funny !
Not if Crazy John wins, with Obama maybe
No they won't!
not until we have a new pres
so profit is a crime...?

no wonder you people have such an aversion to success...
When did being successful become a crime in this country?
For what, making money?
