Why does the Government not do anything about the price of Oil in America?

because the people in gov't are personally financially benefitting from this ';crisis';. Bush's family money is in oil.Why does the Government not do anything about the price of Oil in America?
Do you really think gasoline is expensive? It is only a matter of reference and perception. Water is almost free out of the tap in almost all US homes. Why then are people willing to pay in excess of $8.00 a gallon ($1.00 per 16 oz bottle) for water from the same service stations where they are buying their gas? Gas isn't expensive, we are just used to paying a lot less for it.Why does the Government not do anything about the price of Oil in America?
the government did do something about the oil price... they went to war with iraq... i think it backfired a bit
Because, if the US government meddled even more than they already do, we'd be paying $8 a gallon like the victims of socialism in the EU.
What can they do? Supply and demand... Read the papers.
