Why are we acting like we didn't know oil prices were going to go down, once Bush left the office?

Who honestly did not know the Bush administration was in bed with the oil companies, and once the new administration came in that the price of oil was not going to go down? The Bush administration literally allowed these oil companies to rape us and without blindfolds. Just wanted to hear a some comments on it. Thank you in advance. Why are we acting like we didn't know oil prices were going to go down, once Bush left the office?
In addition to allowing his Saudi oil buddies to rape us at the gas pump, Bush also let them off the hook for bankrolling Al Qaeda.

'Al Qaeda, says William Wechsler, the task force director, was ';a constant fundraising machine.'; And where did it raise most of those funds? The evidence was indisputable: Saudi Arabia. America's longtime ally and the world's largest oil producer had somehow become, as a senior Treasury Department official put it, ';the epicenter'; of terrorist financing.'

First of all, Bush hasn't even left yet. Second of all, the prices are going down because of lower demand for oil, thanks to our economic down turn. Thirdly, Bush wouldn't have legally been able to force the oil companies to lower prices, it isn't anyones right except for the people who own the companies. Forcing them to lower prices would have been illegal and no matter how much good it would do, it would be wrong. You people say the same thing about the patriot act, sure it helps fight terrorism, but it is against the law. Most liberals are holding a double standard for Bush, when he stretches the law to fight a threat to our nation, you criticize him, when he doesn't break the law to prevent oil prices from rising, you criticize him for it.
Energy traders caused the prices to soar. And world demand allowed them to do that. Not the Bush admin. OPEC is cutting production hand-over-fist and the price is still declining. It's amazing how much you can get for a product when people feel they ';need'; it. It's also amazing how fast the price drops when people realize they didn't need it all that much after all.

But Bush? You might want to read a little more. I'd like you to explain exactly how he manipulated the prices. Your question demonstrates a real lack of knowledge.
Bush is still in office.

He has no control over the oil prices.

Gas prices have always been higher in the summer and come down in the fall- never this drastically.

Read up on oil news directly from the middle east.

The higher prices caused a surplus- the prices went down as a result of supply and demand. The prices went up here as a result of increased demand, war over there hurting oil business and refineries, oil platforms being shut down here due to several hurricanes the past few years.

Look for logical explanations before you just to the conspiracy theory.
Oil prices have not gone down because Bush is leaving office they are down because there is a world economic crisis and the demand for oil is down.

The Democrats with their restrictions on oil drilling and the building of refineries helped cause the high prices. The anointed one Obama even came out and said that he didn't mind that gas was $4.00 a gallon. Don't you get it Democrats want you to give up your car and ride public transportation. This is call social engineering and Socialists and Communists are very good at it.

Go back to high school and learn some basic economics.
Well, lets see there is a lot to pick apart in this question. Lets start with the fact that oil was only high because of investors and an abundance of speculation. If it was because of Bush it would not go down. You cannot put blame on any executive figure in a government where congress has more power to control these matters. If Bush was ';in bed'; with the oil companies, then why would Big Oil donate even more money to Barrack Obama's campaign then they did Bush's?
While I don't doubt that Bush is in bed with oil companies, the huge drop in oil is not due to his leaving office (which he has not as of yet) and yet the oil is the lowest it's been in 10 years. It's a result of the world wide economy and the subsequent global recession which has caused the demand for oil to dramatically less than it once was. Supply vrs Demand theory states that if the demand lessons the price drops as well.
Bush leaving office has nothing to do with it. First of all, he hasn't left office yet. Second of all, it's simple supply and demand. Far more barrels of oil are being produced every day than we could possibly use. The supply is higher than the demand, therefore the price decreases. OPEC just agreed to a record oil output cut on December 17 because of this.
It proves that the Oil Companies overcharged us. They claimed they needed to mark up for the increasing prices, but in fact, they marked up more than that. Otherwise they wouldn't have made record profit.

Those bastards have the blood of our soldiers and thousands of Iraqi civilians on their clothing.
I agree about Bush but I believe that it's Obama's commitment to getting us off foreign oil that's making the difference. the only way OPEC can keep their biggest customer is to lower the price so far that renewables and alternatives can't compete. They've done it before.
ok stupid people. the COMPANIES control the oil, not the government. Also during summer the price of oil ALWAYS goes up, and it will later on. The bush administration has nothing to do with that. oil companies could charge 20$ a gallon in they wanted to and no one could do anything because of our free Enterprise system. Also bush is still in office until jan. get your facts.

First of all, you obviously have no clue how the free market works. It's called Supply %26amp; Demand. When the demand get too weak for the supply, prices go DOWN. I'm sure that it may not work that way in say, Russia but, here in the USA the president does NOT control world markets. The president can't even control the Auto market here so don't give him credit for that which he can't control. May be your buddy Obama can Really fix things. I'm not holding MY breath!
Why are you liberals so hateful and miserable. you win an election and yet you are still vile people.

Im happy for Obama and glad to go foward with him as my president, even if we disagree. But to make politics as personal a you do only serves to further divide this nation.
I knew. I have proof:

The yahoo time thing says that my question was from 1 month ago, but it was from 5-6 months ago. I think it keeps saying 1 month until it gets to one year, then it says one year.
Bush is still in office, and oil prices didn't double until the democratic party took control of congress. Until that point, they just followed the normal pattern of inflation.
He's still in office and he has no control over oil prices but a lousy economy does. The lack of confidence by investors made the speculators pull out and let the price of oil find its true market value.
yes cause you know the office of president controls everything and manipulates all, hold on i need my tinfoil hat,... there that's better.
Probebly because they like Obama
Bush is still in office and the prices are falling with the economy...
Even a tree frog knows all the Bushes are in bed with the oil companies, and in turn do business with the bin Ladens. I knew the oil prices would go down before the election..
I've always said that if you put two oil men in the White house, the price of gas would go through the roof.
Way to make yourself look like an idiot there buddy... Bush is still the president.

Gotta love you retarded liberals... who would entertain us if you guys weren't around?
In fact, they started going down long before the election.
We are just about to the price per gallon when bush took office...
he hasn't left office yet
What ice T and Rob said!
