What has the democrat congress done, legislatively, to insure oil prices don't rise?

We know that the liberals have been against drilling and exploration since before Bubba Clinton. What has the democrat congress done, legislatively, to insure oil prices don't rise?
Believe me when I say I have no love for these ';liberal'; frauds, BUT.... in all honesty neither congress nor the president has the authority to do anything, less remove/suspend the fuel tax. Even an executive order from Bush or any president to force any US based oil companies to build more refineries, would not fly in the court system. Personally, I think it's great... I have all ready noticed a sharp increase in people riding bicycles. If outrageous prices is what it's going to take for people to start conserving a bit, then let it be so.What has the democrat congress done, legislatively, to insure oil prices don't rise?
There is not much they can do. Oil prices will continue to rise as supplies dwindle. We are at or past peak oil, but more is being used daily, as China, India and other societies are becoming oil dependent. You can talk all you want about drilling in every remote cranny on Earth, but what do you gain? A few more years of excessive oil consumption, and a few more years of ignorant dismissal of the inevitable oil crisis. New technologies are not advancing quick enough to find a replacement for oil. What will happen when every last drop of oil gets sucked from the Earth within the next hundred years? How will future generation make fertilizer, plastics, medicine, asphalt, etc. without petroleum?
They have tried numerous legislation measures, not just for gas prices, but for repealing tax cuts for the rich, and almost every piece they have put forward, either the Republicans in Congress voted against it, or, the few times they did vote for it, Bush vetoed it. As you see, there is a stalemate in Washington, so nothing is getting done. And as far as who is in bed with the oil companies, Bush and Cheney made and make their money in oil. No one is against drilling for oil, it just needs to be done properly, and in the right places. It also needs to be balanced with not destroying the environment at the same time. I know you will give me a thumbs down, but these are the facts. Whether you want to keep denying them or not, that is up to you.
What the dems have done is to talk. Make promises.

Isn't it interesting that since Nancy Pelosi made this statement more than 2-years ago gas prices have doubled? She said--';Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production

of alternative fuels.'; Nancy Pelosi press release, Monday, April 24, 2006

Seems the Democrats ';commonsense plan'; (whatever that was) failed!

Is there anyone close to Nancy who can ask her what she

meant to do and why it was not done?

And, then, report to us?

So many people vote for vague promises from both

major parties.
Well as Ican tell, the democratic congress hasnt done jack squat to even make a difference in oil prices, other than haulting future shipments of oil into the SPR. I think its freaking pathetic that our congress waited this long for the price of gas nationwide to reach up to $4.00+ a gallon before acting. Yet this party keeps presenting themselves to the public as if they are Gods gift to the US. Quite frankly if this is how the democrats like to do business, I cant expect to much from one of the two cannidates running for president. Just goes to show you how corrupt our government is even to include the republicans. The good old golden days of when the Government had balls, guts and pride in what they did are long gone. Now days its about power, greed, money and of course no backbone.
Since anything the Democratic congress passes will get vetoed by the Great Unifier, not a whole lot. I like the way the GOP apologists shed any sense of responsibility for the sorry way Bush has run the economy in the last 8 years. From a surplus and a booming economy to the mess we are in now.
Block the sending of oil into the reserve, Not much, since we don't have strong majority. Tax suspension is just a scam little saved, revenue lost, and oil companies will increase prices. Solution, price controls
Nothing! Their M.O. is sitting back and blaming the president for the things they are ultimately responsible for. Remember the President cannot spend one dime without congressional approval.
Dems have proposed a bill to prevent selling warplanes to Saudi Arabia unless they free up some more oil. BUSH has threatened to VETO it.
Yeah they haven't done a lot. I've been rather disappointed.
