keep your matrix watch this http://youtube.com/watch?v=PP6fe6i1vaY
and realize that if you would trade it in with the money you would spend with taxes and trading it and what not you would accutally spend more moneyI brought a 09 Toyota Matrix, with oil prices increasing I am looking to a trade it for a prius?
They most likely will trade you for it...but you're going to eat it in the trade in. Unless you put a lot down on it and you owe way less on it than the original sticker price was, you're not going to get a good deal on it. It usually takes about 2 years for the car's resale value to even out with how much is owed on it, on average.
You may have put a lot of money down and not owe a lot on the matrix, but you're not going to get a fair deal whether you sell it private party or trade-in.
Odds are, the amount you'll lose on the car will not be offset in gasoline savings for a long long time.
You can do it, but it will cost you. The main thing is finding the Prius though. Good luck. Here, all dealers are on a 4 to 6 month waiting list. You can get on the list and then try to make the deal when the car comes in. However, they may ask you for a $500 deposit. The deposit should be refundable though.
The minute you drove it off the lot, you lost thousands in resale value. By trading it back in this early, you will need to come up with that cash to be even.
Your car already gets 30-plus MPG, that's pretty good in today's world. It would take you a few years to make up that lost resale value in gas.
Keep the Matrix.
You will probably eat 3000.00 on trade but pay 5-7000.00 over sticker and wait 3 months for Prius.
