Should I convert from oil to gas? Is this a good price?

I have a quote of $1800 to convert my existing 4 years old New Yorker Steam boiler to gas with a Carlin gas conversion burner. This heating company will make it so it can easily be switched back over from gas to oil.

What do you think?Should I convert from oil to gas? Is this a good price?
A little excessive but not that much. The changeover capability is very convenient and worth it.You'll see.

Good luckShould I convert from oil to gas? Is this a good price?
i would say that is a great price , Gas is a smart choice to make .but i am pretty sure you can't just use the same chimney that an oil burner has been using , the gas should require a new flue or liner to be installed .as gas boilers use a smaller flue ,but maybe if you are converting your existing boiler . i would call the manufacturer and ask them . i left two links below but a chimney is something to really keep in mind.
Before converting I would work out the economics of the deal. In your area figure out the relative cost of the btu's used over a season and the relative expected costs. You may not have a payback for decades with the relative youth of your boiler.
the boiler was designed to use oil, so better see how efficient gas will be. might not save any thing
